Chamber 327 - Trivadia Core  Reply with quote

The Inquisitor was visibly saddened by the news that his people did not exist, but there was no way he was going to take out his frustration on the officers from Event Horizon. Tollus had no problems allowing Lt. JG DeGrazzio access to the mapping application of the Centrex System. Tapping his armband, the Inquisitor accessed the system and granted the Lieutenant JG the necessary clearance he needed.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: Centrex, identify Dak’Aar, Inquisitor Tollus.

Centrex System: Identity confirmed, Inquisitor Dak'Aar. How may I assist you?

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: Allow DeGrazzio, Lieutenant Junior Grade Jayden, full access to our mapping application so he can create a galactic map of his origin.

Centrex System: Understood, Inquisitor Dak'Aar. Lieutenant Junior Grade Jayden DeGrazzio. Approach and identify.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: Lieutenant, approach the console over there and speak your name and rank the way you heard me state it to Centrex. As soon as it processes your voice to confirm your access, you will be able to do what you need to do to create the map for me.

Tollus nodded to Capt Little to indicate all was well on his side of the table and to allow Lt. JG DeGrazzio the opportunity to make the astronomical territorial map of the galaxy his guests came from. The Inquisitor was amused the Klingons were an honorable race of warriors where they came from and the dreaded Emerald Chain did not even exist there either. Inquisitor Dak’Aar was very curious to see the map the Lieutenant JG would prepare for him.

The Lieutenant JG rose up from his chair from behind the table, to the immediate left of Capt Little who nodded his approval to create the galactic map for the Inquisitor on his console. Jayden crossed the chamber and went over to the control panel and identified himself to the Centrex System.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: Centrex, identify DeGrazzio, Lieutenant Junior Grade Jayden!

Centrex System: Identity confirmation complete. Access has been granted to the mapping application, Lieutenant Junior Grade DeGrazzio. Inter-phase has been configured to your language parameters. Commence with mapping procedure at this time.

Jayden watched as all the control panels on the console changed from the language of the Ba’Dassians to Standard English so he would be able to create the territorial map of the galaxy in Universe A-01A. Now that the inter-phase was in a language the Lieutenant JG completely understood, Jayden got to work creating the map for the Inquisitor. It was going to take him some time to fill in all the different known governmental factions throughout the galaxy, so Jayden informed the Captain he would be a while.

Lt. JG DeGrazzio: This is going to take me a little while, Captain. Please go on with the meeting, I’ll let you know as soon as I’m finished.

The Chief Science Officer continued working on creating the 3D holographic map of the galaxy as he knew it. Jayden made it so each governmental faction was a different color, making it easier to identify for the Inquisitor. The Lieutenant JG was actually enjoying himself creating the map figuring Capt Little, Cmdr Cypher and Inquisitor Dak’Aar would continue the First Contact conversation among themselves.

Tollus turned back towards the Lieutenant JG at the console and let him know he could take all the time he needed to complete the map that was being made for the Inquisitor. This way Lt. JG DeGrazzio would not feel rushed and make any errors in his work.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: Take all the time you need, Lieutenant. I am in no hurry to see the map with errors on it.

The Inquisitor looked over at the First Officer who had not spoken a word since the three of them arrived and Tollus did not even know his name. Inquisitor Dak’Aar thought he would fix that since Capt Little was still looking through his First Contact protocol manual.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: So you are the First Officer of Event Horizon. The Captain has not introduced you so it looks like you will have to introduce yourself. As you may know, I am Tollus Dak’Aar, the Inquisitor of this facility in Trivadia Core. Who are you?

As Tollus waited for the First Officer to introduce himself, the Inquisitor watched as Capt Little flipped through pages of the binder of information on what to present to a newly encountered species. The Lieutenant JG was still busy working at the console the Centrex System cleared him to operate. Inquisitor Dak’Aar was really looking forward to seeing all the different governmental territories across the galaxy of Universe A-01A.

The XO smiled at Tollus Dak’Aar as he introduced himself to the Ba’Dassian Inquisitor. This was Thom’s first time being a participant in a First Contact situation, so he was on his best behavior. The last thing the Commander wanted was to be rude to the new species they were meeting with.

Cmdr Cypher: I’m Commander Thomas Cypher, Executive Officer of Event Horizon. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Inquisitor Dak’Aar.

The Commander wondered what information he could offer the Inquisitor that wasn’t too proprietary or classified. Thom thought about telling Inquisitor Dak’Aar about life in the Federation and on his home planet as well, since the Inquisitor had inquired about what it was like where they came from.

Cmdr Cypher: What I can tell you is that the United Federation of Planets has over 350 member worlds in it. All of whom live in peace with each other. I’m from the Capital Planet, Earth. I hail from a city called Orlando in the Great State of Florida. It has a tropical climate and is a wonderful tourist attraction. People from all over come to visit the Happiest Place on Earth, which is a theme park complex known as Walt Disney World. Families from all over the Alpha and Beta Quadrants have come there for vacations. If the opportunity presents itself, I’d like to show you images from where I come from.

Thom had a smile on his face and almost a tear in his eye as he thought about his home that he may never see again. The XO tried his best to keep smiling towards the Inquisitor so he wouldn’t see his grief. From what Cmdr Cypher understood, the Ba’Dassians could only detect things through their sense of smell, so Thom did whatever he could to hide the grief he was feeling over the possibility of never making it home to the Federation again.

The Inquisitor was pleased to hear about the United Federation of Planets and the planet Earth from Cmdr Cypher. Tollus thought about seeing the images of the locales the Commander mentioned and was very fond of the idea. Inquisitor Dak’Aar tapped his arm gauntlet and contacted the Centrex System once again, but this time it was to allow the First Officer the ability to access Event Horizon’s computer library so he could pull up the images of Florida and share them.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: Centrex, allow Cypher, Commander Thomas, access to your system so he can connect to the library database aboard Event Horizon for the purpose of imagery retrieval.

Centrex System: Understood, Inquisitor Dak’Aar. Commander Thomas Cypher, approach and identify.

Inquisitor Dak’Aar: I am sure you know what to do from here, Commander. Just duplicate what Lieutenant DeGrazzio did when he approached the console. As you can see, there is more than enough room for the two of you to work side by side.

Tollus could not wait to see the images Cmdr Cypher would be sharing on the holographic emitter in the center of the table. From what the Commander described, it sounded like a beautiful place he would enjoy visiting. But the Inquisitor had a feeling he would not be allowed to accompany Event Horizon back to Universe A-01A when they found a way home. Inquisitor Dak’Aar would not mind changing his title to Ambassador if it meant the opportunity to visit the origin of these people. Tollus made this decision before he even saw the images of Orlando, Florida.

Thom got up from the chair he was seated in and joined Lt. JG DeGrazzio at the Inquisitor’s console where he identified himself to the Centrex System.

Cmdr Cypher: Centrex, identify Cypher, Commander Thomas!

Centrex System: Identity confirmation complete. Access had been granted to allow connectivity to Event Horizon library database, Commander Cypher.

The Commander figured he should contact LtCmdr Centares and let him know the XO would be accessing the library database on Event Horizon. That way there wouldn’t be a panic on the Bridge when Lt. Mitchell discovered a link to the ship’s computer from below the surface. Thom tapped his Combadge to alert Ajay what he was planning on doing.

Cmdr Cypher: Cypher to Event Horizon, Ajay I’m going to be linking with the ship’s computer to access the library database so I can retrieve photos of the theme parks in Orlando. We’ve made a friend down here and I want to show him where I’m from. So let Cole know not to interfere with the link. Cypher out.

With that out of the way, the XO established the connection to Event Horizon’s database and pulled up all the photos of the theme parks in the Orlando area of Florida. Besides the magic of the Walt Disney World Resort, there was the endless excitement at the Universal Orlando Resort, the aquatic wonderland of SeaWorld Orlando and building family fun at the LEGOLAND Florida Resort. Thom accessed them all and as soon as they were downloaded into the Centrex System, he was able to put them up on display using the holographic emitter on the table. The XO ran a slideshow of the photos showing families of the many different races of the Federation enjoying their time together at the attractions. Seeing the photos himself, brought a smile to Thom’s face as he could see his smile was infectious as others were smiling at the images too.

The Lieutenant Commander was pondering whether or not to send Lt. Mitchell down to the Transporter room once the Coaxial Warp Core was officially up and running when LtCmdr Centares heard the voice of the XO over the Communication Speaker System on the Bridge. The temporary CO understood what Cmdr Cypher wanted and looked over to Lt. Mitchell and gave him the following instructions.

Lt. Commander Centares: You heard Commander Cypher, Mr. Mitchell. Allow the alien computer to link with our library so the Commander can download the images he’s wishing to show whomever they’re with down there.

Ajay waited on confirmation from Lt. Mitchell so he’d know the data transfer was successful and that nothing else was accessed without their knowledge, just in the unlikely event this was a ruse to obtain classified information regarding Event Horizon, its mission and the device which stranded them here. The temporary CO hoped all was going well for Capt Little, Cmdr Cypher and Lt. JG DeGrazzio. This was the last thing they expected to be doing on their mission to the Mirror Universe. That they would end up in a completely unobserved universe making First Contact with an alien race. LtCmdr Centares sure hoped the aliens would be able to help the crew of Event Horizon get home. Ajay really missed his wife and son very much.

The Lieutenant heard Cmdr Cypher and then LtCmdr Centares right afterwards as Cole was monitoring his console. Lt. Mitchell watched for an alert he would have to override but nothing happened. It appeared the alien link to their computer went straight through all their defenses against intruders and went right into the library database without setting off a single notification!

Lt. Mitchell: The alien computer gained access to our library database without so much as a notification, Sir! It is far more advanced than anticipated so it could go straight into our classified files if it so wished it. I don’t think I could even shutdown access if I had to. But the only things being downloaded are images of the theme parks in Orlando, Florida. Also, the link is using the authorization code for Commander Cypher so he’s got to be the one doing it. At this point, I don’t believe we’re under any threat.

The Chief Operations Officer maintained a watchful eye on his console to make sure the only items downloaded were the images Cmdr Cypher indicated he would be accessing. Along with monitoring the data transfer, Cole was watching the power indicators to see when the Coaxial Warp Core was powering up. The Lieutenant knew it would be coming online soon since PO3 Florenté and his assistant were hard at work getting the core fully operational again.

The Chief Engineer was at his console after running the tests on the repaired area of the core, which passed with flying colors. Jamie was starting to bring the Coaxial Warp Core back online with the assistance of Cwmn Flores. Watching the intermix chamber and seeing the progression of the matter/anti-matter flowing, PO3 Florenté knew all was going to go well. After a few minutes of observing the chamber all the indicators were in the green and Jamie started up the core and watched it come to life.

PO3 Florenté: Excellent work, Aiden! This baby will be purring like a kitten real soon!

Jamie worked diligently on bringing the core fully online and when it was up and running, he began to allocate power to all the ship’s systems so they wouldn’t be relying solely on the backup energizers which ran from the batteries. When all systems were nominal, the Petty Officer contacted the Bridge to let LtCmdr Centares know they had full power available.

PO3 Florenté: Florenté to Bridge! The Warp Core is back online, you’ve got full power available, Sir!

The Petty Officer left the communications between Engineering and the Bridge open just in case the temporary CO had new orders for the Chief Engineer. Jamie was pleased with the work Cwmn Flores gave him in restarting the core and gave him the thumbs up hand gesture. With the Turbolifts being operational and the Coaxial Warp Core back online, the Petty Officer wondered what other tasks needed the Chief Engineer’s personal attention. Jamie knew there just had to be something…

The temporary CO was quite pleased to hear from PO3 Florenté regarding the Warp Core. This meant they had the power to lift off and use their Coaxial Warp Drive to leave this area of space if necessary. It was also plausible that the Chief Engineer and Lt. Mitchell could get to work on extending the range of the Transporters. That way they would have some control over the situation by being able to beam the Landing Party back to Event Horizon on their own.

Lt. Commander Centares: Mr. Florenté, we need your expertise in Transporter Room One so we’ll be able to lock onto the Landing Party and beam them up on our own if necessary. Lieutenant Mitchell will be meeting you there to assist. Centares out.

Looking over towards the Ops Station at Lt. Mitchell, Ajay gave the Lieutenant a wink and continued…

Lt. Commander Centares: Snap to it, Lieutenant! I’ll monitor the Ops Station controls from the Center Console here between the CO and XO’s chairs. Let me know when you guys get the Transporter modified to lock onto the Landing Party and beam them up when it’s time to depart this place.

Ajay smiled at Lt. Mitchell knowing he wanted to get down to the Transporter Room and extend the range with PO3 Florenté. Now that it was feasible, there were no reservations about sending the Lieutenant down there to assist in the modifications. Once the Landing Party returned, the first thing LtCmdr Centares would suggest would be for Lt. JG DeGrazzio to get to work on the Transdimensional Beacon so they could get a signal back to SB34 and warn them of the mission failure and being in need of some kind rescue. Being stranded in this universe was not an option for this temporary CO.
