Azeri nodded in short reply to Claire, knowing how hard this was for her. The Captain turned to the Chief Sec/Tac Officer once the XO had left.

Capt Sull: Lieutenant Kaaha, see to the acquisition and assigning of firepower to the officers that wish to be armed, please.

The CO tapped a button and cleared the still rotating images of the creatures from the main viewscreen, no one needed to keep seeing Hell and damnation itself and decided on a view of the space ahead of Eureka they were passing through.

Charrothe saw to it by authorizing the distribution of the weapons needed to repel a Xenomorph incursion should one or more get aboard Eureka. Nodding to Capt Sull, the Lieutenant JG let her know the acquisition of firepower was underway.

Lt. JG Kaaha: Aye, Captain! Weapons are being distributed to all those wishing to arm themselves in the lower decks! I'll have some delivered to the Bridge as well, Ma'am!

The Chief Sec/Tac Officer informed his Security Personnel to bring weapons to the Bridge so they could be given to those wanting to feel secure with an Assault Phaser either in handheld or rifle form. Charrothe wanted to make sure everyone on Eureka felt safe with the undertaking of the refugees from New Bajor.

When Gus saw the Security Personnel enter the Bridge carrying weapons for everyone on the Command Deck, the Ensign leapt from his seat to grab one of the Assault Phaser Rifles they brought up. Making sure the weapon had a full charge, Gus returned to the chair to the left of Capt Sull with a smile on his face.

Ens Montoya: Thank you for ordering Lieutenant Kaaha to have weapons brought to the Bridge, Captain! Plus everyone else will feel secure with these as well. It is a great idea, Ma'am, it really is!

The Yeoman held onto his rifle tightly as they rapidly approached New Bajor. Gus watched as the Security Officers distributed the weapons to the other officers on the Bridge that they wanted. The Ensign could almost feel a sense of security surrounding him as they approached Capt Sull to see what weapon she desired to protect herself and her ship with.

Azeri looked into the cache, and immediately her eyes glinted, a short Phaser Rifle! There was just the one left, it seemed that most everyone else had had the same idea... She looked up at the Security Officer in front of her as she took a Standard Issue Assault Rifle for herself.

Capt Sull: Get that to Commander Bennett. You'll find her on Deck One, Section Twelve.

The Security Officer nodded back at Capt Sull.

Cwmn Galvan Aye, Captain. Immediately, Ma'am, I'll see to it personally.

Once everyone had selected their weaponry, Azeri turned towards the Yeoman, and spoke in hushed terms.

Capt Sull: You read the specs on those monsters, I trust you're smart enough to figure it out, Ensign?

The Captain nudged her rifle ever so slightly, in Ens Montoya's eye line.

Gus looked over at Capt Sull and winced, realizing the weapon he was holding was utterly useless against a Xenomorph! The Ensign wondered how long it would take for the other officers on the Bridge to realize it. Hopefully it was not going to be if there was a creature aboard Eureka and they had to use their Phaser weapons on them. Gus looked down at his feet as he responded to Capt Sull.

Ens Montoya: Yes, Ma'am. I am...

The young Yeoman placed the Assault Phaser Rifle on the side of the chair he was occupying. Since it was not going to protect the Ensign or anyone else on the Bridge should one of those monsters came aboard, Gus had become quite despondent. It was a good thing the Captain took down the data being displayed on the Main Viewscreen, so it was not obvious to everyone the weapons they chose would not protect them at all.

Azeri looked over at the young Yeoman.

Capt Sull: Ensign, I don't expect those creatures to make it on board, let alone get into a hand to hand fight with them. The weapons are more for a state of mind... Like chocolate!

The Captain smiled at the Ensign.

Capt Sull: Well, I never met a chocolate I didn't like... Except maybe cocoa..

Azeri laughed slightly, then turned to the Flight Control Station.

Capt Sull: ETA to New Bajor, Lieutenant Gutiérrez?

The CO could not begin to imagine the anxiety surging through the ship as she waited for the report on the time to reach the fleet.

Mateo heard the Captain ask him for the latest ETA on their trek to meet up with the fleet in orbit above New Bajor. The Lieutenant looked down at his console and read back the amount of time before Eureka arrived at it's designated coordinated orbit above New Rakantha.

Lt. Gutiérrez Yes, Ma'am! We're looking at seven minutes, 45 seconds before we arrive, Captain!

The Chief Flight Control Officer knew if he increased the speed of Eureka, they would fly right passed their target and out the other side of the system. Mateo knew Capt Sull would not like that, so he maintained their current course and speed. Besides, a little over 7 minutes wasn't bad. They would be dropping from Warp in about 6 minutes and covering the final distance with full Impulse Power.

Gus smiled slightly towards the Captain, regarding her analogy of chocolate being a state of mind. The Ensign was not sure if the rest of the officers on the Bridge could be that clueless to the resistance the Xenomorphs had to energy weapons. Ens Montoya was almost certain Lt. Aurelius, the Chief Science Officer, would be aware of the flaw in handing out Phaser pistols and rifles to the crew. The young Ensign lowered his voice to a whisper and spoke quietly to Capt Sull.

Ens Montoya: Captain, I think Lieutenant Aurelius must be aware these weapons are useless on the Xenomorphs. I hope he does not blurt it out to everyone. That would be bad, Ma'am.

The young Yeoman became ridden with trepidation, even though Capt Sull told Gus she did not expect any of those creatures to make it aboard. If it did come to a hand to hand combat with them, the crew would surely lose. The Xenomorph was extremely vicious and incredibly strong. Its teeth and nails were actually made from metal! The second set of jaws that launched out of its mouth was extremely deadly and could punch its way right through somebody's skull! Gus said a silent prayer that none of those creatures ever made it aboard Eureka.

Azeri took a quick glance toward the Science I Station and could see that Lt. Aurelius was indeed a little quizzical over the weapons being passed around, but he did not seem to question it as he had himself taken a weapon which he had placed to the side of his console leaning against it. The Captain was positively sure the Lieutenant would not question the move to assign the weapons to the crew.

Capt Sull: Ensign, crew morale is of utmost importance... As of this moment, I think you just volunteered to be our Chief Morale Officer... Unofficially, of course, a Science vessel technically has no need for such a position... But I am sure you will handle it with diplomacy and plume!

As Azeri spoke, the Captain was tapping out a quick memo to Cmdr Bennett informing her of the ETA to New Bajor, marking her attendance as optional considering the memories the creatures had arisen within the Executive Officer.

The Captain then thanked Lt. Gutiérrez for his timely report before turning to the Operations Console and issuing the order to make ready for a heated arrival at the ships destination. She then turned to the Security/Tactical Station.

Capt Sull: Shut down any non essential sections and transfer the power to a holding position in case we need any extra energy. We don't exactly know what we'll be Warping into there and I want to be ready for a warzone!

The CO waited for all the replies that were necessary before turning back towards Lt. Gutiérrez.

Capt Sull: Drop us out about fifty thousand clicks from the center of the battlefield around New Bajor, give us a wide enough berth should we need it.

Azeri hoped all this would be enough and that the battle was really over by the time they arrived at the coordinates.

The young Ensign smiled at his Captain as he replied to her regarding what she had said about being the Chief Morale Officer. Capt Sull was correct in that one was not needed aboard a Science vessel, but then again, Gus heard the Captain did not feel she needed a Yeoman either. The Ensign hoped by the end of their mission Capt Sull's feeling on that would change.

Ens Montoya: I will do my best in whatever you assign to me, Captain.

The Yeoman also looked over towards Lt. Aurelius to see what he was going to do or say about the weapon he took from Lt. Kaaha's Security Personnel. Being the Chief Science Officer was from the Officer Exchange Program with the Romulan Republic, Gus figured Lt. Aurelius had a code of conduct that prohibited the Lieutenant from betraying his CO when it came to the morale of the crew. This was certainly a good thing since finding out the weapons were completely useless would cause widespread fear which would cripple Eureka.
