Mission 0 - Pre-Launch

Striding to the front of the room she went over their orders in her mind. She stepped up in front of her crew and took a breif moment to review the orders on the PADD she held before her. Handing it to the nearest officer she began.

Capt Harris: Our orders are as follows. Several civilian ships have gone missing between Sector Epsilon and Starbase 34. Fleet analysts suspect marauders of somekind. We have received only one distress signal from any of the missing ships and that was 48 hours ago on Stardate 238103.13. Simply put, we have to save them. Hopefully they need saving still, otherwise....

She trailed off at the end not wanting to consider the alternative.

Capt Harris: Any questions?

Commander Ashborn stood by the Captain as she addressed the crew. He took the PADD with the mission briefing from the crewman that the Captain had handed it to and was personally reviewing the mission.

The XO was quietly taking note of what little information they had to work with and coming to his own conclusions. He was hoping that rest of the senior officers would be able to derive their own ideas and submit them at the appropriate time.

Cmdr Ashborn: Captain? Might it be a prudent idea to allow all the senior officers to read the mission statement independantly to form their own theories? It may be useful to us later.

The XO looked up from the PADD and awaited the CO's response.

Grinning with her own thoughts running through her mind she replied.

Capt Harris: Well I think that is a wonderful idea. That is why I was passing that PADD with our orders around for the senior staff to read. Thank you. Anything else?

She kept the smile painted on her face while fuming inside, awaiting his response.

Looking at the CO then to the XO and back to the CO, he sat in his chair wondering what was going to happen next. He didn't dare say anything for fear of making the CO mad.

Lt. Commander Reich: I think we should do what we do best; get out there and kick some butt!!!

This of course wasn't said loud enough for anyone to hear him, but he knew that the Captain was fuming inside. They had a history, and he was glad to be on her ship. He was glad and honored to be on board her ship, and couldn't wait to catch up with her about old times.

Taking his lack of a reply as a response she turned quickly back to the minimal senior staff assembled in her Ready Room. She shook her head lightly, wishing that the staffing department wasn't so tight.

This is going to be a mission with fighting and I'm undercrewed , she thought to herself. Dismissing the crew, she stepped into her office and began to review her orders and pre-flight checklist.

As he came aboard and placed his personal belongings in his quarters. he noticed what time it was and quickly exited his quarters. Andrus hurried down the corridor and into the turbo lift. Assuming that the Captain's Ready Room is off the Bridge, he quickly told the turbo lift where to go.

1Lt Elbrun: Bridge.

While the turbo lift was moving, he thought of how nice it as of him of being late for his first assignment. When the turbo lift stopped and the hissing sound of the doors opened, he quickly stepped off of the turbo lift and onto the bridge. He walked hurriedly to the Captain's Ready Room and then saluted the Captain as he went to attention.

1Lt Elbrun: Lieutenant Elbrun, your Detachment Commander, reporting as ordered, Ma'am.

He stood there waiting for a response as he handed her the PADD with his orders.

When he walked into the Ready Room he grimaced at the officers, seeing the CO and XO there.

Ens Amornus: Crap.

Tyldak silently backed up from the CO's Ready Room and allowed the doors to close. He stood there thinking of how long the Captain's lecture would be. For it was his first meeting with the Captain and he knew that she could make his life hell if she felt like doing so.

She took the PADD from the Detachment Commander and reviewed it briefly. Nodding she noticed an Ensign scurrying out the door behind him.

Capt Harris: Grab that Ensign and drag him in here. Then sit down with the rest of the officers and review our orders when they get to you. They are being passed around.

She nodded and handed back the PADD then turned back to her XO and spoke in a hushed voice about their orders.

The XO quietly listened to the Captain's assessment of their orders. He understood the situation at hand and felt that the ship was more than capable of completing the task. The real question pertained to the vessel's crew.

Cmdr Asborn: Will we have a full crew before they decide to kick us out and make us go find these vessels?

He stood there pondering the answer and looking over the skeleton crew that they currently had.

Andrus took the PADD back and returned a nod. He noticed the Ensign enter and then quickly exit the Ready Room. Obeying the Captain to retrieve the Ensign, he took a few steps out of the Ready Room and toward the Ensign. Grabbed him by the arm and brought him back into the Ready Room.

1Lt Elbrun: Is this the Ensign you are talking about, Ma'am?

He stood there with the Ensign beside him awaiting a response.
