Infiniti Commendation and Promotion Ceremony  Reply with quote

As he looked over the commendations and promotions he would be giving out this evening, he was very proud of all the names on the list. He looked out over the room filled with the other staff officers of the fleet, as well as the officers and crew of USS Infiniti. He looked over towards Adm Skyner, RAdm Martinelli and BGen Alderez and nodded to indicate that he was ready, then stood and proceeded to the podium and stood on the elevated platform that was placed there so he could be viewed and heard properly.

VAdm Arayuss: Good evening, everyone. I'd like to thank you all for coming here tonight during your well deserved Shore Leave aboard Starbase 34. On behalf of the Flag Officers of Gamma Fleet we welcome you home from your first mission, which was a complete success.

He waits a few moments as they cheered and applauded.

VAdm Arayuss: One of my favorite duties to perform as the Deputy Commander in Chief, is the presentation of commendations and promotions. I cannot think of a finer crew that deserves them more than the ones seated before me at this time.

Again, he waits for the cheering and applauding to die down.

VAdm Arayuss: Ladies and gentlemen, shall we begin?

He should have know that would have caused more cheering and applauding that he was going to have to wait to quiet down.

VAdm Arayuss: Will the following Starfleet Marines approach the podium on the left, by Brigadier General Alderez.

He noticed how they all became silent.

VAdm Arayuss: Private Daniel Spunkmeyer, Private 1st Class William Hudson, Private 1st Class Mark Drake, Lance Corporal Cynthia Dietrich, Corporal Colette Ferro, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, Gunnery Sergeant Cody Arbor and Marine Captain Bath'Ney.

Aeryck watched as the Marines approached in their dress uniforms, in single file up the stairs of the stage and stood at parade rest.

Alderez rose from his seat and walked over to the Marines, with an assisitant beside him holding a silver tray containing commendation awards and promotion ranks. He stopped and saluted them. He was very proud of the Marines that stood before him.

BGen Alderez: Marines! Tench-hut!

The Marines before him snapped to attention with rigid unification.

Upon catching the Vice Admiral's nod, he dismissed the Marines.

BGen Alderez: Marines! Dismissed!

He stood there and watched them parade off the stage and return to the seats among the crew of Infiniti. Afterwards, he returned to his seat to allow the ceremony to continue.

It was time to continue, as VAdmiral Arayuss addressed them again.

He watched as they approached the stage with dignity in their dress uniforms, and stood to the right of the podium.

As the cheering and applause settled down enough for them to hear him, he let them know how he felt.

RAdm Martinelli: I just want you all to know how very proud I am of each one of you, congratulations.

He jestured to them, and watched as they returned to their seats, as he did the same, and looked to the DCinC.

When the room was again quiet, he addressed them.

VAdm Arayuss: Earlier today, when I received the reports of what Infiniti went through on it's first mission, and on it's return to Starbase 34 the actions of one crewman stood out like a bright star in the night sky. With his sense of duty, honor, loyalty and conviction, he took it upon himself to engage and dispose of a creature that for all tense and purposes could have taken many if not all the lives of the crew, not to mention the possibility of exposing the population of Starbase 34 to an extremely deadly species. When he came into my office today beside Captain Carpathia, I was reminded once again, that great things can come in small packages.

He looked down to the Captain's table and smiled.

VAdm Arayuss: Yeoman Panettiere, approach the podium.

Aeryck watched as the young officer shyly came on stage and stood by the podium with him.

VAdm Arayuss: Today shall hold two great honors for you. The first being your promotion and commission to the rank of Ensign.

That stirred a loud round of cheers from the Marines and an equally loud round of applause from the Starfleet crew.

VAdm Arayuss: ...and second. It is my great honor and pleasure to award Ensign Jansen Panettiere, for his outstanding bravery, merit and gallantry in his actions which saved countless Federation lives, the Federation Cross.

While the room was a roar of cheers and applause, Aeryck removed the award from it's case and placed it over the Yeoman's head so that it hung in the middle of his chest from the ribbon pendant. He looked at the officer and smiled and allowed the applause to continue by adding to it, his own.

He had never been happier in his entire life as he was at that moment. He looked out towards the applauding and cheering crew of the ship he called his home. He looked down at the Captain's table and saw him applauding and smiling back at him. The lump in his throat only allowed him to say very little.

Ens Panettiere: Thank you, Sir.

He waited for the DCinC to nod to him that he could go back and sit by the Captain. He was more nervous now than he was in the chamber with the creature he had to extinguish.
