Sickbay - Deck 12  Reply with quote

The Doctor used her Medical Tricorder to check over the obese child and shook her head back and forth over her parents allowing her to overeat to the point of being 28 kg overweight! There was no sign of any malnutrition or exhaustion with the child so she didn't need to remain in Sickbay like Tootie did.

Cmdr Jovic: She's showing no signs of malnutrition or exhaustion. I'd say she's had plenty to eat and did a lot of sleeping while she was aboard the Mariquita.

Dragana looked at the heavyset child and smiled.

Cmdr Jovic: So what's your name? My name is Dr. Dragana Jovic, I'm the Chief Medical Officer aboard Sutherland. Were your parents on the Mariquita with you?

The stocky girl made some snorting sounds before she replied, indicating her disgust with the questions.

Alana Thompson: You look Romulan! My dad always said we can't trust your kind and you deserved to lose your homeworld! My name is Alana Thompson and I had no family aboard that crappy ship. I was hiding on there cause I was running away to become a Princess! Mom said my Dad was a useless layabout with only hollow ambitions and he'll never become anything so if I wanted a regal life I had to find it on my own! I'm starving! When can I get some decent food? I'm starving to death before your beady Romulan eyes!

The Doctor was taken back by how rude Alana was and thought the best thing for her to have would be a salad and perhaps go to the Holodeck for some exercise.

Cmdr Jovic: Well, Alana. I am Romulan and I think if you want something to eat, you should go have a salad and get some exercise. You're extremely overweight for your age and it's going to cause you health problems in the future.

By the apparent rage Alana was showing, the Doctor really made her angry.

Alana Thompson: I'll have whatever I want, I'm a Princess and you're just a Rommie Doctor. Now if we're done here I want something delicious from a Replicator, get out of my way!

Young Ms. Thompson pushed her way passed Dr. Jovic and walked over to Capt Marino and issued him a royal order from her worshipfulness.

Alana Thompson: Let's get something to eat, now! I won't stand around here starving my ass of while she insults me about being overweight! I'm just big boned! C'mon Captain Fats, let's go eat!

The "Princess" walked passed Capt Marino and continued out of Sickbay into the corridor and yelled.

Alana Thompson: Well!? I'm waiting to be fed!

Dragana was horrified by what she witnessed and couldn't believe Capt Marino would tolerate such abusive behavior towards either of them. Since there was nothing else the "Rommie Doctor" could do for her, Dr. Jovic returned her focus towards Tootie and made sure she was doing well as she recovered. The Chief Medical Officer looked over at Lt. Panettiere and shook her head in disbelief and wondered what he thought of the spectacle that just occurred in Sickbay.

Lou left Sickbay and lead Alana to his Quarters on Deck 2 so they could feast to their hearts' desire without the gaze of crew members lamenting on their obesity. With the Captain a firm 189kg and the Princess a jubilant 75kg, they often got tired of hearing how much they were overeating and wished to be left alone to consume as much as they wanted. When they used the Turbolift to arrive on Deck 2, Lou's stomach started to grumble with hunger pangs. It wasn't long before they entered the Captain's Quarters and Lou allowed Alana to order anything she wished from the Replicator as well as whatever quantity she desired.

Capt Marino: Help yourself to whatever you like and as much as you like, I'm sure you're a hungry little Princess! I'm hungry too, so I'll get something from the Replicator right after you do.

The jovial girl pushed Lou aside and ran straight to the Replicator!

Alana Thompson: Outta the way, Chubby! Princess coming through!

Lou felt nothing but love for the healthy youngster as she ordered all the ingredients to make herself s'mores. They just needed a way to make them, which just so happened to be in one of the boxes the Yeoman put away for him. The Captain retrieved the device that baked s'mores that his daughters had given to him for Christmas this last year. Since Lou was connoisseur of s'mores, he decided to have the same thing Alana did and got a big batch of the same ingredients.

Capt Marino: I bet you didn't know I was a connoisseur of s'mores and traveled with my own device to make them that I got from my daughters back on Earth!

Alana Thompson: I really didn't care, Chubbles. Let's get that machine on the table so we can make these things, haven't I told you that I'm hungry?!?

The Captain couldn't help but feel admiration for her confidence in ordering him about. He brought over the ingredients he had replicated along with the device and put them on the same dining table where Alana was already sitting and stuffing her face with marshmallows. Lou watched to see how many the Princess could put in her mouth before she couldn't fit in anymore. Alana fit in quite a bit of marshmallows, and not wanting to be outdone, Lou began stuffing his mouth with marshmallows too. Once his mouth was at full capacity, he smiled as best he could to show he was still undefeated in the face full of marshmallows contest.

This seemed to infuriate Alana and she chewed up the huge wad in her mouth until it was gone and then let loose with a large guttural belch that actually caused an echo in the Captain's Quarters. That made her start laughing which got Lou laughing too as he tried to chew up his wad and swallow the large masses of marshmallow heading down his throat. At the speed it was going down, a large wad got caught in his throat and he began to choke! Lou started coughing but could not dislodge the large chunk in his throat!

In the meantime, Alana was making herself happy eating the chocolate and watching the show Capt Marino was putting on for her pretending he was choking. He even made his lips turn blue before collapsing like an unconscious walrus on the floor! She appreciated the dinner and a show and clapped her hands as the chocolate smeared on her lips as she continued to eat hungrily. After some time had passed, Alana got up in an annoyed demeanor to see why Lou was still laying on the floor like he was sleeping. She figured he was just pretending, so she got some of the melted chocolate from her cheeks and started drawing on the Captain's face, making sure he would be embarrassed when he woke up. Since he was unresponsive, Alana figured he took a nap, so she continued to eat all of the ingredients separately since Lou didn't show her how to use the device. Now that she wasn't as hungry as she was earlier, Alana decided to go take a nap in the Captain's bed since she was a Princess after all. The bed was nice and supportive for Lou's size so it accommodated the obese girl as she quickly fell asleep. Allowing Capt Marino to die on the floor of his Quarters from an overdose of marshmallows...

With the Captain off the Bridge, James asked LtCmdr Boffi how long it would take before the tow ships would arrive on scene. He was also curious to know the status of the survivor that was transported directly to Sickbay.

Cmdr Kee: Michaelangelo, how long before the tow ships arrive?

The XO tapped his Combadge next to contact Sickbay.

Cmdr Kee: Bridge to Sickbay! How's our new passenger, Doctor?

As the Commander waited to hear back from LtCmdr Boffi and Dr. Jovic, he wondered to himself why the Captain was so rude to Counselor Elbrun. He knew from past dealings that Capt Marino had a big ego and found it difficult to take the advice from others, but he would generally just ignore them. This time he was downright rude to the Counselor. James figured since the CO was a large man, that perhaps he was hungry.

Using the Ops Console, he scanned the distance the tow ships were at their current position to Sutherland's position near the SS Mariquita. As soon as LtCmdr Boffi retrieved the data he reported it to Cmdr Kee.

Lt. Commander Boffi: We're looking at 42 minutes, Commander.

Since the tow ships were much closer than they were before, if the XO wanted to communicate with the approaching flotilla of Federation vessels, he could do so.

Lt. Commander Boffi: They're within range to hail them, Sir. If you wish?

The Chief Operations Officer maintained his post at the Ops Station and was ready to open a hailing frequency to the lead tow ship, should Cmdr Kee wish to send them a message or speak with them directly. Either way, LtCmdr Boffi was ready.

With the Captain and his little "Princess" gone from Sickbay, Dr. Jovic was able to focus all of her attention on the sleeping survivor from the SS Oruga. She was far more pleasant to be around than Alana, especially with Tootie being asleep. Dragana could see by the expression on Jansen's face that he was quite relieved the obese girl had gone with the Captain to see to her needs. After a short amount of time had passed, the Doctor heard the call from the Bridge regarding their newest passenger. Dr. Jovic tapped her Combadge to respond.

Cmdr Jovic: Jovic here, Commander. Other than needing a lot of exercise and a nutritional 1,000 calorie diet, she'll be fine. Her name is Alana Thompson and she's with the Captain now getting something to eat. I'm willing to bet it's nothing nutritious and some form of Terran comfort food. I'm afraid neither one of them will be losing any weight today. As for Tootie, she's still asleep and the Yeoman is keeping an eye on her.

With the channel still open between the Bridge and Sickbay, Dr. Jovic listened for anything else the XO had to say. Being a doctor, Dragana was bound not to comment on the bratty behavior she witnessed from Alana. But she was sure Lt. Panettiere would have no problem filling Cmdr Kee in on all that he heard and saw from the tubby tyke.

James smiled as he imagined Capt Marino enjoying a large meal of comfort foods with the chubby child who survived the Deltauran infestation aboard the SS Mariquita. He decided to leave the Captain to enjoy himself and just replied to Dr. Jovic to let her know to keep him apprised on Tootie's condition.

Cmdr Kee: Alright Doctor, all is well up here. Keep me up to date on Tootie's condition. The tow ships are about 40 minutes away so we'll be out here until the last ship is brought back to Starbase 34. But if there's isn't anybody else hiding aboard any of them, our job here will be quite simple. Bridge out.

As the XO shifted his position in the chair where he was seated, he thought the Wildcards didn't need to sit in their fighters all this time since the survivor from Mariquita was safely aboard Sutherland.

Cmdr Kee: Colonel Carrera, go ahead and tell the Wildcards to stand down for now, but be ready to launch again should the need arise.

The Commander waited to hear LtCol Carrera tell the 58th Squadron they could power down their SA-43X's and relax for a while outside their cockpits. This would give them the opportunity to stretch their legs and not have to remain seated in their Hammerheads while sitting in the Flight Deck of the Secondary Shuttlebay on Deck 20.

LtCol Carrera was pleased to inform the Wildcards that they could relax for a while and not have to remain in the Hammerhead cockpits. Back when Rafo used to fly in his SA-43 years ago, he remembered how cramped the cockpit was. Even though the SA-43X was more advanced, the cockpit size hadn't changed by much.

Lt. Colonel Carrera: Queen 6 to Queen of Diamonds, you're ordered to stand down but remain in the Shuttlebay in the event you're needed to launch again. Queen 6 out.

With the order given, the Lieutenant Colonel relaxed a little. Knowing that while the 58th Squadron was relaxing aboard Sutherland, they were in no further danger of being left behind again should the Captain forget the speed of the Starfighters. Or was he just unaware? Either way, LtCol Carrera was not impressed with this new CO and wondered what kind of training he received in the Command Training Program.

Shane was pleased to hear from LtCol Carrera they were given the order to stand down. This way they could exit the Hammerheads and walk around a little and take some comfortable seating in the Launch Lounge on the same deck. She was more than happy to tell the rest of the Wildcards the good news...

MCpt Vansen: We've been ordered to stand down! We can relax for a while here in the Launch Lounge while the ships stay ready! So let's get to relaxing cause I don't know how long it's going to last!

They most certainly didn't need to be told to go relax twice. The 5 of them removed their gloves and helmets before climbing out of the cockpits, but keeping their flight suits on. The Wildcards walked together to the Launch Lounge and took seats so they could relax knowing they had the time they needed without having to remain in their ships flying to catch up to Sutherland when they were left behind. The image of their assigned Starship leaving them will haunt Shane's thoughts for quite some time. MCpt Vansen would make it a point to bring up to LtCol Carrera when the opportunity arose.

As time moved by uneventfully, James was able to see just how well the Bridge crew worked together. It was a shame the Captain decided to spend time with the new survivor and ignore his duties on the Bridge. The XO knew he had daughters so perhaps the new girl reminded him of one of his own and was spending time with her as a surrogate daughter. But, be that as it may, James could see on the chronometer the time had come for the tow ships to arrive. Since the Captain wished to be notified of their arrival, the XO called down to Capt Marino through his Combadge.

Cmdr Kee: Bridge to Captain Marino, the tow ships are here.

While waiting on the Captain's reply, the Commander asked LtCmdr Boffi to open a hailing frequency to the lead ship and send the information regarding the SS Oruga and SS Mariquita. Letting them know survivors had been found on both vessels.

Cmdr Kee: Michaelangelo, hail the lead tow ship and send over all the information we have on both Oruga and Mariquita. Let their Captain know we found a survivor on each vessel and that it's possible other ships could have survivors hiding aboard them.

The XO wondered if Capt Marino was on his way to the Bridge or just going to let James run the show from here on out. Since the CO hadn't replied or showed up on the Bridge, James asked the Computer to locate the Captain.

Cmdr Kee: Computer, locate Captain Marino.

Sutherland-Com: Captain Marino is in his Quarters.

James figured the Captain might be ignoring his call or was perhaps asleep from a feeding frenzy the Doctor described him being engaged with the new obese girl they brought aboard. Either way, the XO's responsibility was to make sure the Captain was aware of everything, so he decided to have Yeoman Panettiere check on Capt Marino.

Cmdr Kee: Kee to Panettiere, check on Captain Marino in his Quarters and let him know the tow ships have arrived. Bridge out.

The XO just sat there in his chair on the Bridge and waited on either a reply from Capt Marino, an acknowledgement from LtCmdr Boffi and a report from Lt. Panettiere regarding the Captain's status. While James waited, he could see the flotilla of tow ships arrive on the Main Viewer and appeared to be awaiting instructions from the Commanding Officer of Sutherland. Now if only the CO was available to give those instructions, instead of being in a full belly coma in his Quarters.

Michaelangelo did as Cmdr Kee ordered and hailed the lead tow ship with a greeting, welcoming them to a secured area thus far and sending along the information on both Oruga and Mariquita having survivors aboard. When the CO of the lead tow ship replied with wanting to know if they could start setting up the 2 ships that were already cleared of survivors to return to SB34, the Chief Ops Officer passed that on to the XO.

Lt. Commander Boffi: Commander Kee? The lead tow ship has the info you wanted me to send and they want to know if they can setup Oruga and Mariquita for the ride back to Starbase 34?

While Michaelangelo waited on a response from Cmdr Kee, he also wondered what was going on with Capt Marino. It was bad enough copping an attitude with Counselor Elbrun and beaming over to get the new survivor himself, but to blow off Cmdr Kee was downright wrong. LtCmdr Boffi wondered how could the Captain have passed his exams to be promoted and make such egregious errors in judgement so far.
