Transporter Room 1 - Deck 4  Reply with quote

Chase was pleased to see Ens Garcia return with the news regarding the children being safe in Holodeck 1 on Deck 3. That was truly a brilliant idea the Doctor had for putting the refugees together and having Counselor Ho with them so they could open up and talk to her about the goings on down in New Rakantha and if they knew anything about the arrival of the Xenomorphs to their colony.

Cmdr Ashborn: Thank you for handling that so quickly, Luis! We're waiting on the next batch of refugees right now. Commander Cypher and Ensign Wilson must be out of the Transporter Enhancers by now, so the next group of children should be coming up any moment. Dr. Tudismaque won't have to check them over in the corridor when they arrive this time since our Chief Engineer isn't here with his assistant and a large case to bring down to the surface. Perhaps you should replicate some warm towels for the next group of kids, Luis. They'll be arriving wet, I'm sure.

The XO waited to see the Yeoman do as Chase suggested and use the Replicator to create 10 large warm towels for the child refugees to use once they arrived on Whitestar. Cmdr Ashborn wondered if all was well down on the surface with Cmdr Cypher and Ens Wilson installing the array on the ISSCV. Chase didn't anticipate there would be any problems, unless of course, the Xenomoprhs started to attack the extraction site. That would present a clear and present danger to everyone on the surface!

Doing what Cmdr Ashborn had asked of Ens Garcia, Luis went over to the Replicator and made another 10 warm towels for the soon to be arriving child refugees. Once all the towels were created, the Ensign returned to where he was standing beside the Commander and waited for the next group of children to arrive.

Ens Garcia: I made the towels, Commander! When will the next group be arriving, Sir? I do not want these towels to cool off before they get here.

The Yeoman remained by the XO's side and waited for the next group of refugees to arrive. Holding the towels in his arms, Luis brought the warm cloth to his chest to keep the warmth inside them. That way the towels would still be heated up when the children arrived from the surface. It was the Ensign's job to make the refugees as comfortable as possible and that was exactly what he was planning to do.

The Commander looked over to the Transporter Chief and saw the next group was ready to beam up, so Chase smiled as he turned to Ens Garcia and let the Yeoman know the time was now.

Cmdr Ashborn: Well Luis, it would appear that the next group of children are coming up right now.

With a dazzling spectacle of light, the next 10 children appeared on the Transporter Pads, dripping wet and crying with the knowledge they were safe from the clutches of the Xenomorphs. Speaking to the refugees, Chase addressed them in a compassionate and kind manner.

Cmdr Ashborn: You're all safe now! I'm Commander Chase Ashborn, Executive Officer of the USS Whitestar! Please step down off the pads and get a warm towel from our Yeoman, Ensign Luis Garcia. While you are drying off, Dr. Jacques Tudismaque will check all of you over for injuries.

As the children did as the XO told them, they each took a towel from Ens Garcia before approaching Dr. Tudismaque for another full body scan to make sure the Medical Team on the planet didn't miss anything. After each child was scanned for an embryo, the Doctor checked them over for injuries. The tears of their fears were drying up as the child refugees calmed down as they warmed up from the towels supplied by the Ensign. Chase was happy the kids were calming down, knowing they were safely aboard Whitestar.

The Doctor examined all of the children in the latest batch to be beamed aboard and found them all to be clean of Xenomorph embryos and any injuries. They seemed to be quite excited now that they were aboard a Starship and away from the cold wetness of the planet below. Once the last child was checked over, Jacques informed Cmdr Ashborn and Ens Garcia these refugees were ready to go to the bunk-room with the others and get out of their wet clothing.

Lt. Tudismaque: All of these children have been medically cleared, Commander. They can go straight to the bunk-room in Holodeck One and change out of their saturated clothes and into something warm. Lead the way, Luis, they're all yours.

The Chief Medical Officer smiled to the children as they waited on the Yeoman to lead them up to Holodeck 1 on Deck 3 where they would be in the company of the first group of refugees to beam aboard. There, they would be able to speak to Counselor Ho about their troubles and fears about all that's happened to them. Or if the children wished, Jacques was sure LtCmdr Ho could play some games with them in order to help them relax.

The Ensign smiled at the other children who were now wrapped up in the warm towels and indicated for them all to follow him out of Transporter Room 1 and to continue down the corridor to the Turbolift. From there they would squeeze together into the lift and take it up one deck and exit on Deck 3 where they went down the next corridor to Holodeck 1 where they could change into their robes and discard the wet clothing on their backs.

Ens Garcia: Follow me and I will take you someplace you can get out of those wet clothes and put on a nice dry robe for now. I am glad none of you sustained any injuries and need for us to swing by Sickbay.

As Luis continued leading the way to Holodeck 1 on Deck 3, he listened to the voices of the other kids talking about how excited they were to be on a Federation Starship. They also commented on how young the Ensign was and already was in a respectable position on this ship. This made the Yeoman very proud of himself and brought a smile to his face as they entered the Holodeck to find Counselor Ho and the first 10 children sitting together as she was reading them a story.

Ens Garcia: Counselor, I have ten more for you to watch over as I return to the Transporter Room to collect another ten. If you need anything for the children, please do not hesitate to ask. The Captain has assigned me with keeping them accommodated and I plan to do my job to the best of my abilities.

The Yeoman waited on a response from LtCmdr Ho before returning to Transporter Room 1 back down on Deck 4. Luis did not want to leave the new group of children with the Counselor unless she was prepared to deal with the now group of 20. The Ensign did not think the kids would be too much for Counselor Ho, but it was best to make sure she would be alright with them. As Ens Garcia waited on her reply, the new group of kids already started to remove their wet clothing to put on the dry robes that had been folded neatly on the beds that awaited them. Seeing the children getting warmed up and taking seats around the Counselor made the Yeoman smile that they were in a relaxing environment that Luis created for them all.

As Kunti was reading a fanciful story to the children of New Bajor, she looked over and saw Yeoman Garcia enter the Holodeck with another group of wet children. As soon as they entered, the kids went over to the beds and removed their wet clothing and put on the dry robes and came over to join the first group of children sitting around the Counselor and enjoyed hearing the story she was telling. When Luis asked if it was alright to return to the Transporter Room to collect another group of refugees, Kunti smiled as she responded to the Ensign.

Lt. Commander Ho: I'm fine here with the children, Luis. If I need anything, I will surely let you know. You may return to Transporter Room 1 and fulfill your current assignment. I'll be here with the children, reading them a fairy tale that my grandmother told me as a child.

The Counselor continued reading The Mirror That Made Trouble to the New Bajoran children and could see they were all completely focused on the story. This was a good thing considering all they went through down on the planet's surface. Kunti did not think it was time yet to start an interrogation of any of the boys and girls that were probably relaxing for the first time since the Xenomorph outbreak occurred. LtCmdr Ho felt like sobbing inside over the fact these children was most likely orphans and that their parents met a horrible end at the hands of those beastly creatures.

Luis smiled back at Counselor Ho as he was about to exit Holodeck 1 and return to Transporter Room 1. LtCmdr Ho seemed more than capable of handling the 20 young Bajoran children with her book of Tales of Korean Folklore. All the kids were sitting in their robes, listening to the story with complete interest.

Ens Garcia: They certainly seem captivated by your Grandmother's tale, Counselor. I will return shortly...

The Ensign walked out of the Holodeck and down the corridor to the Turbolift where Luis entered. Taking the lift down one deck, the Yeoman exited and walked briskly to Transporter Room 1 where he found Cmdr Ashborn, Dr. Tudismaque and the Transporter Chief preparing for the arrival of the next group of refugees. Luis quickly went to the Replicator and created some long length towels, like before, which were nice and warm for the wet children that would be beaming up shortly.

Ens Garcia: I have returned, Commander! The children are listening to Counselor Ho tell them folklore tales from where she is from. They all seem really interested and focusing on her story. The Bajoran children seem to be getting relaxed now that they know they are safely aboard a Federation Starship, Sir.

The Yeoman stood there like he did before with the warm folded towels held tightly to his chest to keep the warmth in the terrycloth. Luis looked over to the Transporter Chief to see that he was making the preparations to beam up the next 10 refugees. Ens Garcia then looked up towards Cmdr Ashborn and smiled at him, knowing that the rescue of the children of New Bajor was a noble and honorable act. This would surely bring Capt Daqtorgh the honor he was seeking to bring to his House on the Klingon homeworld, Qo'noS.

When the Commander saw that Luis returned and created more towels for the children who would be coming up in the next group to arrive from the surface, Chase smiled as he responded to the Yeoman.

Cmdr Ashborn: That's great news, Luis! I'm glad to hear that the kids are doing well with Counselor Ho. She'll have even more in just a few moments. Standby...

The XO leaned over towards the Transporter Chief and saw he had 10 signals ready to beam up, so Chase put his hand on the Chief's shoulder and gave the order for the next group of refugees to come on up to Whitestar.

Cmdr Ashborn: Energize, Mr. Osaka. Those kids are waiting for some warm towels from the Yeoman here.

Within a few moments 10 relieved Bajoran children appeared on the Transporter Pads, dripping from the rain they were just in. The Commander motioned for the children to come off the pads and get a warm towel from Ens Garcia before getting scanned and examined by Dr. Tudismaque.

Cmdr Ashborn: Come off the Transporter Pads, boys and girls. Get yourselves a warm towel from our Yeoman, Ensign Luis Garcia and get checked over by Dr. Jacques Tudismaque. Afterwards the Yeoman here, will take you to a bunk-room where the twenty children who beamed up before you are waiting in nice dry robes and listening to entertaining stories from our Counselor Kunti Ho. This will help you all to relax and understand that you're safely aboard the Federation Starship Whitestar now. I'm Commander Chase Ashborn, the Executive Officer. Our Yeoman here is assigned to see to your needs. So if you need anything at all, do let him know.

The XO smiled at the boys and girls as they quickly lined up to get a warm towel from Ens Garcia. After they dried their heads and bodies, they went over to Dr. Tudismaque to get checked for embryos and injuries. While watching the kids getting checked over, Chase kept an eye on the Transporter Console to see when the next 10 Bajoran children would be beaming up. If they were ready soon, the XO would have them beam up right away and have Luis bring the 20 of them to the Holodeck so they could get comfortable and relax.

The Doctor checked over the children from New Bajor and found that none of them had any embryos inside. The Medical Team down on the surface must really be doing their job and making sure none of the refugees comes up on a Starship with an embryo inside them. This group of children did not have any injuries that needed Sickbay to remedy their ailments, so Jacques told Luis they were medically cleared to go to the bunk-room and get out of their wet clothes.

Lt. Tudismaque: This group is medically cleared, Yeoman. You can bring them to the bunk-room anytime you wish. Even with the warm towels, their cold, wet clothes they're wearing needs to be removed so they can truly warm up. So don't wait too long, Luis.

The Chief Medical Officer returned to where he was standing while waiting for Ens Garcia to lead the children out of Transporter Room 1 so the next group of children could arrive. Jacques felt lucky that he did not have to be checking the children down on the surface of New Bajor with the weather they were experiencing down there. Dr. Tudismaque was very happy to be up here on Whitestar where it was warm, dry and safe from the Xenomorphs.

Before Ens Garcia could depart with the Bajoran children, Chase suggested that he just have them wait in the corridor since the next batch of refugees was ready to beam up. That way the Yeoman could escort the next group of children to the bunk-room where Counselor Ho was waiting along with the previous batches that beamed up.

Cmdr Ashborn: Just have the children wait in the corridor, Luis. The next group will be coming up in a few moments and they'll need warm towels. As soon as Dr. Tudismaque looks them over and they check out okay, you can bring all twenty of the children to the bunk-room. That way we'll have all forty of the first group to be extracted from the surface together in one place.

The XO waited on Ens Garcia to do as he asked with the group of children drying themselves off here in the Transporter Room with the warm towels the Yeoman created for them. Once the Ensign had the Bajoran children in the corridor and replicated another batch of warm towels, Chase would let Mr. Osaka know he could beam up the rest of the children waiting in the rain on the surface.
