Transporter Room 1 - Deck 4  Reply with quote

Doing what the Commander had told him, Luis lead the Bajoran children out into the corridor and instructed them to wait here for the Ensign to return. The Yeoman would have another 10 refugees to add to this group and then be bringing them to the bunk-room in Holodeck 1 on Deck 3. This would complete the group of 40 children that were waiting in the rain at the extraction site while standing within the Transporter Enhancers.

Ens Garcia: Follow me into the corridor, the next ten children will be coming up shortly. I need to create warm towels for them as well so wait out here and I will lead you to the bunk-room where the first group of twenty are waiting to see you all again.

The Ensign lead the boys and girls to the corridor where they were expressing how happy they were to be aboard a Federation Starship, before he returned to the Transporter Room and replicated another 10 warm terrycloth towels for the last group of the 40 they were to take on in this portion of Capt Daqtorgh's evacuation order. Holding the warm towels to his chest, Luis stood by Cmdr Ashborn and waited on the last of the 40 to arrive.

Seeing that the children were waiting in the corridor for the next group of refugees to arrive and with Ens Garcia standing beside the Commander with the warm towels pressed against his chest, Chase informed the Transporter Chief to beam up the last group of the 40 they've been expecting.

Cmdr Ashborn: Energize, Mr. Osaka! Let's get the last portion of the forty up here so they can get warmed up and a place to rest! Standby, Luis, here they come!

As soon as the last group of 10 materialized on the Transporter Pads, they quickly ran to the Yeoman and each grabbed a towel to warm themselves up. While the children were getting examined by Dr. Tudismaque, the XO looked over at the Ensign and smiled.

Cmdr Ashborn: As soon as they're done with the Doctor, you can take them up to the Holodeck and introduce them to Counselor Ho. I'm sure they will enjoy her presence in there.

Speaking to the Bajoran children, Chase announced where they would be going next and with whom.

Cmdr Ashborn: Welcome aboard the Federation Starship USS Whitestar, boys and girls! When you're all done being checked over by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacques Tudismaque, you will be escorted by our Yeoman, Ensign Luis Garcia, to the bunk-room created for all of you so you can be together with our Counselor, Kunti Ho. You'll be able to change into warm robes and get out of all those wet clothes while she reads you stories from her book.

The Commander looked over towards the Doctor and wondered how the children of the latest group would fare. Chase hoped none of them were severely injured and in need of a trip to Sickbay, this way Luis could lead all 20 of the refugees up to Deck 3 where they would get to meet Counselor Ho in Holodeck 1. Once the Bajoran children were on their way to the Holodeck, Cmdr Ashborn would notify Capt Daqtorgh that the 40 refugees had been brought aboard and cleared by Dr. Tudismaque.

As Jacques scanned the children for embryos, the Doctor found that none of them were carrying any of the Xenomorph Chestbursters. Once that was done, Whitestar's Chief Physician examined the children for any injuries and saw they were all fine, except for a little malnutrition and dehydration. Jacques knew they just needed some food and something nutritious to drink, this was the case all of the Bajoran children that beamed up, so the Doctor let the Commander and the Yeoman know to feed the kids and get them something good to drink while they were in the bunk-room.

Lt. Tudismaque: These kids are fine too, Commander, but they all need some nutritious sustenance when they finally get together in the bunk-room. So when you bring them there, Luis, you should get them all something to eat and drink. Once their bellies are full, they should all get some rest. They're all exhausted and probably haven't slept well since the Xenomorph outbreak began.

The Chief Medical Officer packed up his Medkit since the next group of refugees would be going to one of the other Starships in orbit, so when it was Whitestar's turn to receive orphans again, Jacques would return to the Transporter Room. The Doctor felt that he should accompany the children to the bunk-room and make sure they were all fed well and they went to sleep in their beds. Dr. Tudismaque didn't want the kids running around and playing till the point where their exhaustion caused them to pass out. Plus they needed to eat and drink something nutritious, if the kids made their own selections, the Doctor was sure the children would be eating junk foods and some form of Bajoran soft drinks.

The Ensign took what Dr. Tudismaque said to heart and addressed the final group of Bajoran children to come up from New Bajor in the initial amount of refugees the Captain informed them of. Since they now had all 40 of them, Luis lead the group of children into the corridor where the other 10 were waiting for him and it was quite noticeable the children were happy to see each other.

Ens Garcia: If you will all follow me, I will take you to the bunk-room where the other twenty children will be excited to see you! So come along!

As Luis led the way down the corridor to the Turbolift, he saw that Dr. Tudismaque was bringing up the rear. This was good since the Yeoman could only fit 10 of the children in a lift at a time. When they reached the Turbolift on Deck 4, the Ensign brought the first 10 in with him and told the Doctor to bring the refugees up in the next available lift.

Ens Garcia: Doctor, if you can bring up those ten with you in the next lift, that would be awesome of you. We will wait for you on Deck 3. See you there.

As the Turbolift doors closed and they went up one deck, the Yeoman brought the children out of the lift and into the corridor of Deck 3 where they waited for Dr. Tudismaque to bring up the other group of children. While they waited, Luis heard the children chattering about their excitement being aboard Whitestar and how they felt so much safer now that they were away from the outbreak of Xenomorphs.

The Bajoran children were still chattering among themselves about being aboard Whitestar and marveling at the Yeoman being within their age group when the Turbolift doors closed. A few moments later the doors to the lift opened again to show an empty car. Jacques shuffled the children inside and together they rode up to Deck 3 where they exited and reunited with Ens Garcia and his group of children. Now that they were all together again, the Doctor told the Yeoman to lead the way to Holodeck 1.

Lt. Tudismaque: Lead the way, Mr. Garcia! These children are hungry and we need to get them fed and into bed so they can get some rest.

The Chief Medical Officer waited along with the group of 20 Bajoran children for Luis to lead the way to Holodeck 1 so they could make some nutritious food for the kids and get them all to bed. As they waited, the young male refugees started to goof off and began snapping at each other with their wet towels! This is all fun and games until somebody gets hurt, the Doctor thought to himself before he realized he was sounding like his parents when he used to play around with his older brother, Nicholas.

The Yeoman smiled at the Bajoran children and gave them the instructions to follow him down the corridor to Holodeck 1 where the bunk-room was all setup for them. Once inside, Ens Garcia watched as the boys and girls ran over to the beds that had not been selected yet and began taking their wet clothes off and putting on the warm robes that were made for them. When they were all ready to get something to eat, the Ensign turned to Dr. Tudismaque and asked him what to make for the children to consume before going to bed.

Ens Garcia: I am sure the children will be ready to eat anytime now, Doctor. What would you like me to prepare for them all? I believe something Bajoran would be preferable. If it were up to me, I would be serving them breakfast burritos and horchata!

Luis smiled at the end of his statement, knowing Dr. Tudismaque would have a laugh at the suggestion of a Mexican breakfast for the Bajoran refugees. The Yeoman waited on the Doctor to suggest a menu for the children so the Ensign could make the food for them. Until then, Luis listened to the story Counselor Ho was telling all of her listeners. It was an enjoyable Korean fable that Ens Garcia could see all of the youngsters were having a good time listening to. Once Dr. Tudismaque told the Yeoman what to serve, Luis would run off to the Replicator to have it made for the children.

Holodeck 1 - Deck 3  Reply with quote

The Doctor smiled as he nodded to the Yeoman, breakfast burritos and horchata sounded nutritious and enjoyable for the children to devour in their warm robes now that they were all out of their wet clothing. Dr. Tudismaque put his hand on Ens Garcia's shoulder as he informed the Ensign on what his decision was on what the Bajoran children should eat before going to bed.

Lt. Tudismaque: Luis, that's an excellent idea! Go make mass quantities of breakfast burritos for the children and enough horchata for them to wash them down with! I'm sure they will enjoy it!

The Chief Medical Officer smiled at the children whose attention piqued when they heard Jacques and Luis speak of food! It wouldn't take the Ensign long to make the breakfast burritos and horchata in the bunk-room since it was on the Holodeck which was basically a giant Replicator by extension. As the Bajoran children listened to the story Counselor Ho was telling them, Dr. Tudismaque heard some of the tale and could see why the kids were enjoying it.

The Ensign smiled at the Doctor as he walked over to the Replicator on the wall and began the process of making mass quantities of breakfast burritos containing eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, shredded potatoes and cheese. As the burritos were coming out of the Replicator, the aroma began spreading through the bunk-room. Luis could see the children began focusing on what the Yeoman was doing instead of the tales being told by Counselor Ho. This brought a smirk to the Yeoman's face as he finish getting the burritos made. Next came the horchata, which was made from water, white rice, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla. Once that was complete, Luis brought over the serving cart and moved the food and drink over to where the Bajor children were sitting on the floor and told them it was time for their feast before going to bed to rest for a while.

Ens Garcia: Come and get it, niños and niñas! I got burritos here and horchata! It is really enjoyable to feast upon, my mama used to make it for me when I was living in Mexico on Earth with my parents. So eat up and enjoy!

The children quickly lined up and each of them took a burrito or two on a plate along with a cup of horchata. They returned to where they were sitting and listened to the Counselor's tales from her thick book of Korean folklore stories. Once all the food was eaten by the children, Luis spoke to LtCmdr Ho regarding the boys and girls needing their sleep.

Ens Garcia: Excuse me, Counselor? Now that the children have finished eating, we should get them all to bed, right Doctor?

The Yeoman looked over to Dr. Tudismaque for the Doctor to back him up with his medically advice. That way the Ensign and Counselor could assist the Doctor with getting the children into bed and lowering the light level so they could get some rest after the ordeal they had been though in the labyrinths below New Rakantha. Looking over at the serving tray, there were still some remaining burritos and horchata leftover, so Luis helped himself to a few burritos and a cup of the Latin American drink.

The Doctor nodded in agreement with the Yeoman as he spoke to both LtCmdr Ho and Ens Garcia about having the Bajoran children lay in their soft bunk-beds and get some sleep. They were all suffering from exhaustion according to the scans Dr. Tudismaque took of the children when they beamed aboard. So getting them all to bed sooner than later was for the best.

Lt. Tudismaque: By all means, Luis! These children need to get into bed right away before they fall asleep on the deck! With your help, Counselor, we'll get them into their bunk-beds so they can get the rest they all need.

The Chief Medical Officer waited on Counselor Ho to stop reading from her book of stories and instruct the children to make their way over to the beds they've chosen to sleep in. Once the children stood up, they would have the assistance they needed from LtCmdr Ho, Lt. Tudismaque and Ens Garcia to get under their blankets for a comfortable rest, per the Doctor's orders.

The Counselor closed the book as she finished the tale of The Goblin's Club and announced to the Bajoran children that it was now bedtime. She could see in their faces they wanted more, but per the Doctor's orders, it was time for them to rest.

Lt. Commander Ho: Okay children, that's all for now. Time to get into bed and get some rest. We don't want to upset the Doctor with any rambunctious behavior.

With the assistance of Dr. Tudismaque and Yeoman Garcia, all 40 of the children were now laying in their beds and the illumination of the room had been lowered. The boys and girls must've been really exhausted since it only took a matter of minutes before they were all asleep. The Counselor decided to stay with the sleeping children, that way they wouldn't be alone when they woke up. Tapping her Combadge, Kunti let Cmdr Ashborn know what the status of the children was and to let the XO know of her plan to stay with them while they slept.

Lt. Commander Ho: Counselor Ho to Commander Ashborn! All forty of the children have been fed and are now sound asleep in their beds. I'm planning on staying with them here in the bunk-room in case any of them wake, if that's okay with you Sir.

The Counselor waited on a response from Cmdr Ashborn as she quietly walked through the bunk-room making sure the blankets of the children were tucked in properly. That way they stayed warm in their beds. She replicated laundry bags for each of the children's clothes and placed them inside so they could be cleaned and the tatterings repaired. This way they wouldn't have to remain in robes all the way back to SB34.
