Smiling in the direction of Lt. Gutiérrez at the Flight Control Station on the Bridge, Claire answered Mateo in the kindest way she could. The Captain thought it was really sweet for the Lieutenant to offer to show the USS Oriskany on the Main Viewscreen, since they were now beside them in a higher orbit above New Bajor together.

Capt Bennet: That won't be necessary, Mateo. I've seen a Sovereign Class Starship before. I was stationed aboard the Enterprise-E as an Ensign under the command of Captain Worf, quite some time ago before it was destroyed. Not that it was the Captain's fault, it just must've been the ship's time to go. Anyways, I do not need to see that class of ship on the Main Viewer at this time. But, thanks for asking, Mateo. It was very kind of you to make the offer.

The Captain reminisced about her first assignment aboard the Enterprise-E as she sat in the CO's chair. How sad it was to realize that it's time had come and how Capt Worf did all he could to save the lives of everyone aboard. But after that Claire was assigned to the USS Eureka where she's been for most of her Starfleet career. There truly was a feeling of family aboard the California Class Starship, from the officers on the Bridge, to the Lower Deckers on the levels below. Commanding Eureka has been an honor and a privilege that Claire would not forget for the rest of her career in Starfleet or her life.

The Lieutenant took no offense to the Captain's words about being stationed aboard the Enterprise-E back when she was an Ensign. If Capt Bennet was not interested in seeing the Oriskany, then so be it. Mateo just kept the Main Viewscreen on the star-field ahead of them, with a minimal amount of New Bajor at the bottom of the screen to show they were still in orbit around the planet.

Lt. Gutiérrez: Aye, Captain! I've set our course for Starbase 34! Warp Speed standing by on your order, Ma'am!

As the Chief Flight Control Officer remained at the ready for the Captain to give the order to leave orbit and engage the Warp Drive so they could get to their new home. Mateo was looking forward to seeing the Starbase for the first time. The Lieutenant had heard stories about the Galleria and all the merchants there and couldn't wait to do some gift shopping for his friends and family back on Earth.

Claire nodded in the direction of Mateo as she responded to what the Lieutenant said regarding the course being set and Warp Speed standing by. The Captain wanted Lt. Gutiérrez to know they were still waiting on the go ahead from Adm Arayuss before they warped out of the system for Starbase 34.

Capt Bennet: Understood, Mateo! As soon as we get word from Admiral Arayuss that it's time to leave the Rakhari System, we'll be on our way!

The Captain then spoke to Ens Ramius at the Ops Station to make sure he would be ready to let Claire know when the message to leave the system came through.

Capt Bennet: Marko, be sure to let me know as soon as you hear word from the Admiral that it's time to leave! Once that Genesis Device detonates, we're not going to want to be anywhere near here!

As the CO waited on a response from the Chief Operations Officer, she wondered how the child refugees were doing in the lower decks of Eureka. Since Azeri was down there as well, along with Gus, Claire figured she'd be hearing back from them at some point when the children were fed and resting.

Marko nodded to the Captain's order to let her know as soon as Adm Arayuss made the call for all ships to leave the vicinity of New Bajor. The Ensign wasn't exactly up to speed on the power of a Genesis Device, but Marko didn't want to look like a fool in front of everyone on the Bridge asking Capt Bennet about the reason why they had to leave the system before the detonation.

Ens Ramius: Aye, Captain!

The Chief Operations Officer maintained his station and waited for the call from Adm Arayuss so Marko could inform Capt Bennet it was time to leave. Using one of the displays, the Ensign brought up the information on the Genesis Device and was aghast at what was displayed! Ens Ramius had no idea something like this was even possible! A device like this could be used as a dreadful weapon! Marko was worried about the people who remained in hiding in New Rakantha that hadn't been cocooned by the Xenomorphs for the Facehuggers to utilize. The Ensign sure hoped Adm Arayuss knew what he was doing...

Once all the children were dry, fed, and in their bunks, Gus tapped his Combadge and called Capt Bennet, who was on the Bridge. Since it had been a while since the Ensign heard from LtCmdr Sull, he was curious how she was doing with the arrivals she was looking after.

Ens Montoya: Montoya to Captain Bennet! The child refugees that I'm here with in Shuttlebay One are all doing fine! They're warmed up, fed, and are laying down in their bunks, waiting for our arrival to the Starbase! I haven't heard from Lieutenant Commander Sull, so I don't know if she needs assistance with the children! Maybe you can contact her and check in on her!?

The Yeoman remained where he was and waited on a reply from Capt Bennet regarding his inquiry about LtCmdr Sull. Gus really hoped the former CO and her sentient canine companion were doing alright. Not hearing from her for a long time was out of the ordinary. Ens Montoya listened to the pleasant chatter of the children as they laid in their bunks, happy to be out of danger from those hideous creatures on the planet below, as he continued to wait for a response from Capt Bennet.

Claire responded to the Yeoman who had been waiting on LtCmdr Sull to give her report to the Captain on the children that were rescued by Eureka. The CO had not heard from Azeri since she left the Bridge, so Claire was curious if the J'naii officer was alright down in Holodeck 1 on Deck 6.

Capt Bennet: Thank you for reporting in, Gus! I'm glad the refugees are doing well under your watch. I'll contact Lieutenant Commander Sull in the Holodeck and ask how she's doing and if she needs assistance.

Tapping her Combadge, the Captain called out to Azeri...

Capt Bennet: Bridge to Lieutenant Commander Sull! What's your status Azeri? Are the children alright? Please report in!

Claire left the channel open and waited on Azeri to respond. The CO hoped LtCmdr Sull was just entertaining the refugees and forgot to report in on the status of the children. If assistance was needed, Claire would have Counselor Benz come to her aid. Since Nick was a trained psychiatrist/therapist, he would be able to give any emotional support the children would need at this time.

Azeri had spent the last while tending to the children, in fact she had gotten so engrossed with keeping them occupied with having them assist with making a pseudo bonfire and had had them all slicking vegetables and other food items and had made a spice-free mutton curry to keep them not just fed, but warm.

After the children were fed, and now tucked into their cots, they were now being read a bedtime story of some ancient, Bolian mythology Azeri knew nothing about, but the computer had chosen to instill a sense of safety in the children.

Capt Bennet: Bridge to Lieutenant Commander Sull! What's your status Azeri? Are the children alright? Please report in!

Azeri had been so engrossed in keeping the children preoccupied, she had all but forgotten she meant to report back to Claire on the children's status'. She tapped her Combadge and replied as soon as she had finished the paragraph of the story, and made to step just out of earshot of the immediate row of bed frames.

Lt. Commander Sull: Apologies, Captain. The children and I were in the middle of Storytime. Must have lost track of time.

Azeri awaited the Captain's reply and possible reprimand. No matter the reasoning, she had failed to follow an order...

Claire was relieved to hear the reply from Azeri down on Holodeck 1 and the children were enjoying a story being told to them. The Captain wondered if things were well with Azeri's companion that was sent by the Lieutenant Commander to assist with the children in Holodeck 2. Figuring that LtCmdr Sull would know the status of her sentient canine, Claire responded to Azeri.

Capt Bennet: Acknowledged. Would you happen to know the status of the children under the supervision of your canine companion, Azeri?

The CO hoped it wouldn't take LtCmdr Sull as long to respond as it did for her to reply before. Claire understood that a group of children could keep anyone busy, especially ones that have been traumatized in such a horrible way. In the Captain's opinion, Xenomorphs were the most terrifying creatures to come across. Since Capt Bennet lost her younger brother to them years ago, she never kept an open mind about those horrendous creatures. As far as Claire was concerned, they should all be destroyed.

Azeri was still keeping an eye on the children, some of which had already fallen asleep, but the older children were still wide awake, likely more traumatized than the younger kids. She wondered if the younger children would be able to forget all of this in time, or if it would still work itself into all their nightmares... A job for the Counsellor once they had returned to base...

Capt Bennet: Acknowledged. Would you happen to know the status of the children under the supervision of your canine companion, Azeri?

Before she replied, Azeri quickly tapped a command out on the Holodeck's Arch paneling.

Lt. Commander Sull: I do not currently, Captain. She is sentient and has her own agency... However, that being said, she is still technically technology and property of Starfleet as large... So all her sensors, including auditory and visual, not just the regular EM bands and Subspace, are available directly from your Arm Panel, Captain. I am sure you would like to see what is happening more than simply being told it...

Azeri waited for Claire to reply if at all, as she continued to watch the children attempt to settle down.

The Captain looked somewhat confused when LtCmdr Sull informed her that the sentient canine companion of Azeri's could have her data displayed on the CO's armrest controls. After a moment, Claire realized that the software was probably installed at DS9 before they went through the Denorios Wormhole to the Gamma Quadrant. The Captain responded to the Mission Specialist before bringing up the data on the children under the care of Patience.

Capt Bennet: Acknowledged, Azeri! Keep up the great work! Bennet out!

Using the multifunctional buttons on her armrest console, the CO brought up the imagery of the children, well fed and asleep in their bunk beds in Holodeck 2. This pleased Claire and she then called out to Cmdr Sladek by tapping her Combadge on her chest.

Capt Bennet: Bennet to Commander Sladek! What's the status of the children under your care? We're in a high orbit now awaiting our orders to depart for Starbase 34.

Claire waited on a response from Ulric down in the Recreation Area of Deck 9. The Captain pretty much figured that all was well down there, but wanted to hear from the XO regarding what was happening down there. That way she would know that all of the children beamed up from New Bajor were doing well and they could continue on to SB34 with the child refugees safely secure from the horrors of what happened on their home world, not to mention to the families that were not able to be saved.
